Mass Notification Systems now have their own chapter. A lot of this information was moved from Chapter 6, Protected Premise Fire Alarm Systems and also Annex E, Mass Notification.
Some of the highlights will be discussed in this blog. In the past, Fire alarm signals took precedence over any other automatic signal. Now, when actuated, recorded or live mass notification voice messages should take priority over fire alarm messages and signals. If the fire alarm system is in the alarm mode when recorded voice message or audible signals are sounding, and the mass notification system is actuated, it should temporarily cause deactivation of all fire alarm–initiated audible and visible notification appliances during the time period required to transmit the mass notification emergency message.
